CLIMATE JUSTICE YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The Summer Climate Justice Leadership Academy (Summer Institute) is an intensive 6-week program for youth and young adults 15-24 in Oakland run by the New Voices Are Rising and the Oakland Climate Action Coalition.  Join a community of people who want to make sure that all Oakland residents can survive and thrive in a changing climate.

From June 29 – August 8, 2015 (30 hours a week) at United Roots’ Youth Impact Hub. Must be 15-24 years of age. For more information and to apply click here

DETERMINATION PROGRAM FOR YOUNG BLACK MEN

DetermiNation is a program designed to support the success and development of young African American males (ages 16-24) from the Oakland area. The program is especially tailored to support young men who are struggling to advance in their own life goals (such as employment, career, educational, or other personal goals) and who have been formerly involved in or in close proximity to the “street life”. GLOBAL GIRL MEDIA SUMMER TRAINING PROGRAM

GlobalGirl Media is a program partner of United Roots’ Youth Impact Hub. This summer we are offering a video production training course for young women of color. GAMEHEADS VIDEO GAME DESIGN PROGRAM FOR YOUTH

Gameheads is a youth program at United Roots’ Youth Impact Hub whose goal is to prepare youth (ages 16-21) for a career in the video game industry. The intention of the Gameheads program is to address the knowledge divide but to do so in a way that is focused on one arm of the tech field: electronic entertainment. Participants of Gameheads will learn how to create, code and design games, building skills across a variety of disciplines from visual art, creative writing, design, programming, sound design, animation, game theory and history. For more info click here
