United Roots on CBS Bay Sunday

On Sunday, (11/13/11), United Roots was featured on CBS’s Bay Sunday. Co-Executive Director Galen Peterson introduced the larger social innovation/earned income strategy vision of United Roots, co-crafted with Co-Executive Director, Simmy Makhijani. Simmy has charted the course for building on UR’s violence prevention/life skills education through media arts and directing the program towards a social venture education and employment readiness emphasis that will not only facilitate sustainable livelihood for more youth participants, but will also offer income to support UR’s non-profit efforts. Clemente “DJ Twelvz” Pena highlighted the frontline work of United Roots and its direct relationship to work on the ground and the importance of meeting youth where they are at.
