Silence the Violence Day: Oakland Turf Summit August 25th

United Roots is partnering with Urban Peace Movement for the Oakland Youth Turf Summit on Silence the Violence Day Thursday August 25th, 2011. The Turf Summit will include a phone call from Lil’D (from prison), a panel discussion about the turf violence with some OG’s from Oakland and live performances by local Oakland artists. At the Turf Summit United Roots will be premiering a new Turf Unity music video made in the Multimedia Summer Class (a program of the Oakland Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academy at United Roots). Queen Deelah and Trunk Boiz will be performing hip-hop music, the Turf Fienz will be doing a turf dance performance, and legendary artist DJ Fuze will be djing the event. This event is specifically for youth and young adults from Bay Area turfs to come together. Go on line today and sign the Urban Peace Movement Peace Pledge
