The “Big Business” music video was produced at the United Roots’ Start 2 Finish Music Industry Camp in the Summer of 2011 at the Oakland Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academy. The camp gave 30 youth artists from Oakland and the larger Bay Area the opportunity to work directly with music industry artists and moguls. At the camp the youth participants learned the in’s and out’s of the hip-hop music industry and worked on projects to launch their own independent careers. The “Big Business” music video was a collaboration project with the youth and young adult artists at the camp and legendary hip-hop producer Rick Rock (West Coast legend – produced for Tupac, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey and may others). The goal of the camp was to create a music industry atmosphere where the youth participants got to experience working with professional music artists. Rick Rock brought the beat to the camp and the youth participants had to write their verses on the spot and record them that day. The music video was filmed and edited by youth video producer Luis “L’nino” Montoya the next day during the camp. Feel free to promote this new music video on your facebook, twitter, and other webpages and spread the word about the work we are doing at United Roots with these young aspiring hip-hop artists. Please contact Music Director Clemente “DJ Twelvz” Pena to get involved and support the youth and young adult music programs at United Roots. This video project was made possible in part by the Bill Graham Supporting Foundation.
